Animal Control

The City of Trenton Animal Control Department is in the process of developing the Trenton-Dade Animal Center, an intergovernmental organization serving both the City of Trenton and Dade County. This transition represents a joint commitment to providing high-quality animal services through shared resources and strengthened operations. The Trenton-Dade Animal Center will continue essential animal control functions while expanding programs that promote public safety, responsible pet ownership, and the overall well-being of animals and residents throughout the community.

The City Animal Shelter/Trenton-Dade Animal Center is not currently open to the public.

All stray animals brought into our care are posted on our official Facebook page during their required hold period so potential owners can claim them. Animals that become available for adoption are also listed on our Facebook page, along with updates, photos, and adoption information.

We encourage the community to follow us on Facebook to stay informed about strays, adoptable pets, and upcoming events.

- Third Offense, Intact Animal: $100, Animal Must be Sterilized before release
- First Offense, Altered Animal: $10
- Second Offense, Altered Animal: $25
- Third Offense, Altered Animal: $50
- Subsequent Offenses may lead to an animal neglect charge.
